Writing a Strong Job Description 

A good job description should be:

  • Clear and concise
  • Student friendly

     

  • Transparent about expectations
  • Inclusive and welcoming

What information will you need?

  • Job ID
  • Position Number
  • Justification
  • Employment status (New Hire, Rehire, Current Employee)
  • Full legal name
  • Email address
  • Background check type

 

 

  • Preferred start date
  • Hourly rate or salary
  • ChartField string for regular earnings
  • Relocation compensation details
  • Department name
  • Department ID
  • Hiring manager & direct supervisor
  • Citizenship status

Staff Employment Changes

Sometimes appointments need to shift, whether a role is evolving, or funding changes. Employment changes help ensure records stay accurate.

What employment changes can include

  • End Appointment
  • Change of Work Location
  • Change of Supervisor
  • Pay Rate Change
  • Other updates
