2024 Welcome 2 UMD Signs for Campus Neighbors

The Office of Student and Life and the UMD Women's Resource and Action Center (WRAC) are working together to offer a program to neighbors in the areas adjacent to UMD. Neighbors are invited to put a FREE Welcome to UMD sign in their yard. If you are interested in getting a sign, please use this form to sign up to receive a FREE Welcome 2 UMD sign for your yard. Supplies are limited and signs will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis!

2023 Neighborhood Meeting - 34th Annual

UMD held the annual Neighborhood Meeting on Thursday, November 9, providing an update on a number of initiatives and programs at UMD, including information provided by UMD Facilities Management, UMDPD and DPD, parking (UMD Transportation and Parking Services and the City of Duluth). All neighbors of UMD were invited to attend the annual neighborhood meeting. 2023 Welcome 2 UMD Signs for Campus Neighbors

The Office of Student and Life and the UMD Women's Resource and Action Center (WRAC) worked together to offer a program to neighbors in the areas adjacent to UMD. Neighbors were invited to put a FREE Welcome to UMD sign in their yard. On Sunday, August 20th, Vice Chancellor Lisa Erwin and her husband Al delivered 34 signs in the neighborhood close to UMD.

2022 Neighborhood Meeting - 33rd Annual

UMD held the annual Neighborhood Meeting on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, providing an update on UMD plans for 2022-2023 and beyond. All neighbors of UMD were invited to attend the annual neighborhood meeting. 

2022 Welcome 2 UMD Signs for Campus Neighbors

The Office of Student and Life and the UMD Women's Resource and Action Center (WRAC) and Kirby Student Center worked together to offer a program to neighbors in the areas adjacent to UMD. Neighbors were invited to put a FREE Welcome to UMD sign in their yard. Supplies were limited and we received many requests! Signs were delivered on August 21 and 22. The photos below were from Sunday, August 21, and include VC for Student Life and her husband Al Werner delivering signs.

2021 Neighborhood Meeting - 32nd Annual

Due to continuing concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic, the Office of Student Life prepared a newsletter update that was mailed to neighbors in mid-October. A link to the update is found here

2021 Welcome 2 UMD Signs for Campus Neighbors

The Office of Student and Life and the UMD Women's Resource and Action Center (WRAC) worked together to offer a program to neighbors in the areas adjacent to UMD. Neighbors were invited to put a FREE Welcome to UMD sign in their yard. VC Lisa Erwin and her husband, Al, delivered a record 36 signs to UMD neighbors on August 24, 2021.

2020

The COVID-19 pandemic and the guidelines for safe meetings and gatherings precluded UMD's ability to offer the same programming as in the past several years. Instead, the Office of Student Life prepared a newsletter update that was mailed to neighbors in mid-October. A link to the update is found here

2019

2019 Neighborhood Meeting - 30th Annual

UMD held the annual Neighborhood Meeting on Thursday, November 19, 2019, providing an update on UMD plans for 2018-2019 and beyond. All neighbors of UMD were invited to attend the annual neighborhood meeting. 

2019 Bulldog Yard Contest

Student Life and the UMD Student Association co-sponsored the second annual Bulldog Yard Contest. Students who live in the neighborhoods adjacent to UMD are invited to participate. The purpose of the contest was to create positive ways to welcome new students and their families to campus on August 22, 2019 (move-in day). The judges for the contest were members of the UMD Student Association and other student leaders from UMD student organizations. Fifteen prizes were awarded, ranging from a $50 to $250 grocery gift certificate for the Super-One Store on Kenwood.

The Office of Student and Life and the UMD Women's Resource and Action Center partnered to offer another program to neighbors in the areas adjacent to UMD. Neighbors were invited to put a FREE Welcome to UMD sign in their yard. Dr. Lisa Erwin, Vice Chancellor for Student Life and Dean of Students personally delivered the signs on August 18, 2019.

2018 Bulldog Yard Contest

In 2018, Student Life and the UMD Student Association co-sponsored the first-ever Bulldog Yard Contest. Students who live in the neighborhoods adjacent to UMD were invited to participate, and fifteen prizes were awarded, ranging from a $50 to $250 grocery gift certificate for the Super-One Store on Kenwood.
